Throughout history there have been many leaders and unsung heroes who shaped this great country of ours. They were not memorialized in history books or recognized in public gatherings. Each person assumed responsibility for care of the family and worked as many hours as necessary to assure success and prosperity. They were the former generations who shaped our present culture and led by example with hard work and family values.
Fear, although present, was not a controlling factor in decisions made about pressing forward towards achieving set goals. We have all read stories about the pioneers who packed belongings into covered wagons to travel west, seeking new opportunities and often times, great fortunes. Many of them felt the risk far outweighed the idea of settling for mediocrity or just getting by.
Our current society instills a belief in all of us and teaches us to be afraid of change. Don’t rock the boat and certainly don’t dare to be different. Our school system teaches all the basics of reading, math, history, geography and technology. Most of all, the system teaches everyone that they need to get a good education in order to earn higher paying jobs. Although all these subjects are important, no curriculum is established to teach the idea of entrepreneurship. What a shame!
Most of our forefathers would be appalled at the amount of hours many individuals spend in front of a television. Television traps many individuals into believing they can escape the realities of every day life. The addictive programs steal many valuable hours which could be spent more productively. Those same, hours per day, redirected at educating one self in regards to investing and creating wealth, could go a long way towards providing happiness and financial freedom. Unfortunately the individuals most needing to read this article are the ones parked in front of their television at this very moment. Congratulations, you are not one of them!
So what does all this have to do with investing for wealth? One of the greatest misconceptions about creating wealth is that wealth is created from money. This is only partially true. Equally important is the ability for a person to redirect wasted hours toward learning and implementing strategies for achieving high yield returns. The number of success stories about someone creating a fortune by following through with a new idea are too numerous to mention.
Opportunities are around each and every corner. The internet, stock market, real estate, new inventions, writing books are all examples of investment vehicles which can be studied and mastered by anyone, wishing to achieve success. Time is a great equalizer. Most people are living only for today. By rethinking and planning ahead for the next 5, 10, 20 years or more, one can escape negative financial situations of the past, knowing there are always new opportunities available if you are prepared to recognize them.
Recently a business acquaintance expressed his beliefs that high rates of return on investments were equally proportionate to risk. In other words, high returns meant high risk. He was taught this concept from childhood by his parents and teachers. Upon providing examples of safe investment returns, earning in excess of 15%, 30%, 100% and more per year, he simply shook his head in disbelief. His reality is exactly what he believes and in his reality, high returns, mean high risk. However, the Donald Trumps of the world know high yields with low risk are also a reality. They continually spend the time necessary to either educate themselves or associate with others who have the knowledge to guide them toward achieving these high returns with less risk.
Investing for wealth is a process anyone can learn. It requires dedication and continuous education. Most successful individuals will tell you the journey to prosperity was rewarding and fun. Each obstacle along the way provided a challenge. Friendships developed throughout the process made the journey that more enjoyable.
